AI Technology and its Impact in the Workforce

AI technology is increasing rapidly in advancement in today’s society. There is no telling what the future impact in the workforce will, weather a positive or negative affect. As far as opinions on this topic, there are devoted followers at both ends of the spectrum. Many people believe that AI technology has the potential to completely ruin the job market and leave a tremendous amount of people around the world unemployed. When you look at how far AI technology can reach once its full potential is unleashed, they can very likely be correct and we are in for some very bad times. An epidemic such as this would leave our country’s economy in turmoil, leading to the destruction of our nation. As a college student, soon to be in the job market myself, this topic interests me as well as frightens. Over the next seven posts I plan to research deeper into this topic to see exactly where the future of AI technology in the workforce stands. One of my main focuses will start with what lines of work are most likely to be affected by AI technology in the near future and the severity of the affect. This information will help younger people coming out of high school decide what path they should take when starting a career. On the other end of the spectrum, many people believe that the workforce will always be able to adapt to the growth of technology as it has up until this point. Throughout history new technology has not necessarily taken jobs, but more so taken over a task and developed more jobs from doing so. It will be interesting to reveal the answers to these questions as myself along with millions of young students soon to be entering the job market are very eager to find out.
