AI Technology’s Impact on Older Generations
After thinking of ways I could generate primary research on my topic, I decided to question my boss on how the advancement of AI technology has impacted our company. To keep it confidential I will not mention the name of the company, but it is a very large international company with generations of experience, in eras with and without technology. My boss had plenty of useful feedback to assist the composition of this blog. There have been many ways that my boss explained how AI technology has changed the company, but the main and most important aspect of change was in how financials are stored, and numbers are pulled when needed. Computer programs such as SAP have made their way into the business world in order to store and compute financials for companies, making this process much easier and more productive for the companies investing in the software. People would imagine that this software would take a job opportunity away from the people who were manually inputting the financials. This is a misunderstanding as this technology did not take jobs from the employees of this company, but simply transitioned the tasks of their jobs. For example, someone who used to be a manual inputter in finance, can have the same role with a technological factor involved and will be using SAP instead of manual methods. The way that it is possible for someone to lose their job to technology is if they are ignorant to the fact that technology will continue to advance, and that you need to stay ahead of the times. If you are not trying to learn the newest software programs and are from a later generation where technology was just starting out when you started working, you may be a loss of production to the company. This is causing hard situations for companies that have to let people go that have been with the company for several years, but simply cannot grasp how to use new programs that the company is adopting.
