Millennials in the Workforce
As this is a blogging assignment for MGG 303 at the University at Buffalo, it is interesting to look at what your classmates are writing about. I looked at many of the blogs created by classmates that are nearly on the same topic as mine and it is interesting to see if they have different viewpoints and what key information they have found that is important to my topic. Matthew’s blog on Millennials and the workforce is a very interesting read. It speaks on the shift of sought after jobs in the workforce from older generations, to the younger generation entering the workforce. Matthew states “Studies have found that they want to work with more purpose. Older generations tended to just sit at their work area for eight hours a day and do whatever they could to keep themselves busy until it was time to clock out. On the other hand, millennials approach their role at a company with some sort of meaning and expect to make an impact. There is no question that this is a positive thing.” It is interesting to see that millennials are more ambitious to find jobs with more purpose. I mean we are stereotyped to be the laziest generation yet, that is until a baby boomer in your office needs help transitioning their pdf into a word document. All though I kid around, it is obvious that with the technology this generation has access to, we will be the most complex in the workforce. This blends well with the topic I am researching as it will be interesting to see if rapidly advancing AI technology in the workforce sways what way millennials will be taking their career path. Millennials can be as ambitious as they want, but if AI technology starts making a growing impact on the business world, we may have to resort to a heavy shift towards labor jobs like the many generations before us.
