Pez.AI is exploring a radically different way of working, one that is sustainable and healthy for all those involved. This publication is meant to be a springboard for discussion and collaboration on different ways of working, and how to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) as a catalyst for change.

A Canadian frog contemplating the future of work in an AI landscape

It’s easy to view AI through the lens of opportunism or fear, i.e. winners and losers. The World Economic Forum looks at it like this:

“As automation substitutes for labor across the entire economy, the net displacement of workers by machines might exacerbate the gap between returns to capital and returns to labor. On the other hand, it is also possible that the displacement of workers by technology will, in aggregate, result in a net increase in safe and rewarding jobs.”

For a technology heralded as a key ingredient to the 4th industrial revolution, it seems limiting to look at AI this way. Borrowing from Zen, we say mu and reject this false duality. A true revolution is not incremental. Disruption means breaking free of the status quo and shedding past beliefs. When we look at AI with the beginner’s mind, infinite possibilities open up before us.

The AI Workplace explores some of these possibilities based on my journey building Pez.AI. What started out as a way to automate business processes and make work more efficient has evolved into a laboratory for raising the quality of human interaction. I believe that AI and data science can help businesses better understand their customers and their employees, while also reducing inefficiency. We’re exploring these concepts by creating bots that solve specific business problems. But not just automating existing processes. We’re rethinking the goals themselves, and only then thinking about the role AI plays.

Our ideas, experiments, reflections, and lessons ultimately drive the content. We’re re-imagining how a business can be run (and of course where AI plays a role), in other words how to interact with customers and employees. This will seep into not just customer experience but hiring, operations, project management. We’ll also take some deeper dives into AI literacy. To think differently about AI requires understanding how AI works, something I’ve written about in the past. Only then can root causes be identified and appropriate solutions found.

We look forward to sharing our journey with you! If you have suggestions for content or want to contribute, please comment here or contact us directly at workplace@pez.ai to share your thoughts.

Looking forward to the journey ahead,
