Hi everyone, I would like to share my experience attending a training called “Agile Ways of Working “held by AIA Singapore at Batam Technology Centre (BTC), Nongsa Digital Park these past 2 days. There are some questions that come into my mind before I attend the training such as How is Agile implemented in a company? What are the roles in Agile practice? Why do we prefer Agile ways then waterfall?

Topics that was discussed in the trainings starting from the history of Agile, what makes it different and beneficial than waterfall, even how do we practice Agile in a team. This training covers all the high level of Agile concept with the interactive session brings us clearer view on the Agile methodology.

I had learnt the ability of Agile that can be useful for our approach in terms of projects. Agile really helps us on prioritizing items and see what is the ongoing or pending items. There are some terminologies of Agile such as Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective, etc. The process of Agile can make the work process easier by understanding each of the task assigned to the specific person as a Product Owner, Scrum Master, Developers that consist of programmers, testers, and business analyst.

One thing I like about Agile is that Agile doesn’t look for outcome or results in a way what is being set in the first place, but Agile way is relying on the process. Sometimes what user think is different than what developers or even the product owner might be different. Agile can help us to at least see what the inputs or outcome is every user story, then we can be able to do something before it goes live.

After I join this training, I can see how AIA slowly implement Agile process on some projects until in the future hopes that AIA can use Agile as a full working method. In theory it looks simply but the implementation of Agile will need a group of dedicated people that can work individually but with only one goal to achieve.

This is just a beginning of my journey to gain into Agile knowledge, I am seeking for other opportunities ahead to get deeper on the Agile and trainings on how to be a scrum master.
