Meet AI Crypto’s Advisor Tiago Costa Alves!

Recently, we announced that Ismail Malik, founder and CEO of BlockchainLab and the Editor in Chief at ICO Crowds, had joined our team, and today we want to present you another key player of our group of advisors — meet Tiago Costa Alves!
Tiago Costa Alves is currently the Vice President of AppCoins’ Asia Pacific branch. AppCoins is the team behind an Ethereum-based open and distributed protocol for app stores. It aims to transform app advertising, in-app purchases (IAP), and app approval flows via a circular model. The protocol is supported by Aptoide, one of the largest app stores out there. AppCoins ICO, which ended in January 2018, was the first ICO ever to serve 200 million users.
Tiago is the guy responsible for Investors Relations at the Singapore-based startup, which is led by Paulo Trezentos.
Besides AppCoins, Tiago is also involved with Aptoide, which runs the app store. He is VP of Aptoide’s Asia Pacific office and was previously the VP of the company’s Corporate Strategy unit.
As a manager of the corporate strategy division, Tiago Costa Alves was responsible for arranging and conducting a roadshow to collect funds via a Series A round from European and Asian investors. The financing round raised about $4 million, with German VC firm e.ventures acting as a top investor and China’s Gobi Partners and Singapore’s Golden Gate Ventures being co-investors. The investment, which was carried out in 2015, helped Aptoide grow its team to the current size of 60 employees.
Aptoide, founded in 2009, is an alternative store for mobile apps that are compatible with Android OS. Unlike Google Play Store, Aptoide doesn’t offer a centralized store so that each customer could manage its own store.
Previously, Tiago Costa Alves had several roles at Portugal Telecom, now known as Altice Portugal. Portugal Telecom has been the largest telecommunications service provider in Portugal. In 2015, when Tiago left the company, Portugal Telecom became a subsidiary of Altice Group — a multinational telecom and cable company that covers several countries, including France, Belgium & Luxembourg, Israel, Portugal, Switzerland, and the US among others.
At Portugal Telecom, Tiago started as a Product Manager and then worked as a consultant in the CEO’s team, Project Manager for a mobile wallet, and a Team Leader for Mobile VAS.
He also worked as Services Marketing Manager for the tech giant Hewlett-Packard (HP).
Tiago has a Bachelor degree in Software Engineering from the University of Macau, a Master Degree in Mandarin from Beijing Language and Culture University, and an MBA degree in Technology Management from the University of San Francisco.
He speaks five languages, including Portuguese, Spanish, Chinese, English, and French.
