Internet of things have changed our lives in a wondrous and unexpected ways in many fields. One such field is the Automotive Industry.

IOT has definitely opened gates for automotive industries to develop further.

SELF DRIVING CARS:

One such application of IOT is the “Self-driving cars”. As the name suggests, a driver-less car is the one which drives to a destination by itself. These cars have not completely brought to sale, but they are on their way.

The advantage of these cars is that they not only make the life of people easier but also that the computers are not distracted as easily as people. So, the rate of accidents can be reduced. Some of the notable companies like Tesla, Uber, Hyundai, Volvo, BMW, Ford etc. are working on it.

Let’s wait for their arrival!!

CONNECTED CARS:

In today’s world everything is connected and why should automobiles be left behind?

The solution to this question is the arrival of connected cars, which has the ability to connect and communicate with other systems outside the vehicle.

These cars use IOT for their functioning. They use various types of connectivity technologies such as vehicle to infrastructure, vehicle to pedestrian, vehicle to cloud, vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to everything.

Apart from infotainment and entertainment, connected cars give signals of malfunction of vehicle, traffic alerts etc.

Also, with automobiles becoming more intelligent they are prone to cyber-attacks like other devices.

So, cybersecurity for automobiles is very important because the vulnerability can directly cause harm to the person inside the vehicle. It is in the hands of the manufacturers to provide cybersecurity to all the vehicles they make.

CONCLUSION:

“YOU NAME IT AND YOU HAVE IT IN IOT”

So IOT has been drastically increasing in the past years and has been continuously making sure that it establishes a good connection between people and the things around them through internet.
