This week we focused on how Twitter and Facebook are places for hate groups to quickly meet and find people, because of how the algorithm works. The way it works is that posts that get more attention and views get featured more and allow more people to see and interact with their posts. This cycle continues until more people have seen it than should have.

The way this cycle affects everyone on the platform is scary to think about. Most people would love to go their whole life without having to deal with or see hate speech or pictures designed to target people of different races or beliefs. Facebook and Twitter are places that allow people to post almost anything they like. This freedom that has been set in place is supposed to be regulated by the company but hardly ever is. They allow hate groups to form and fester for a long time until it is too late to get rid of them. Most people don't even interact with them but their hateful words and ideals spread like a disease. This disease catches the eyes of the media which only exasperates this sickness, by giving them more attention than ever before.

The media shouldn't be giving these people more attention, because all it does is give them an even bigger platform to find a wider range of audience. It allows them to connect more and grow in number, the smaller a group is the more insignificant it is, larger groups, however, are hard to get ride of. Their ideals spread and more people see them and trust them leading them down a path of hate.
