The day we’ve all been waiting for has finally come: as Q2 2018 draws to a close, we’re releasing AIDPay!

We are extremely excited that this moment has arrived because we’ve had so many requests lately and not just from charities. This is no surprise, since AIDPay is a perfect fit not only for charities but for many different players who would like to give to charity through their own websites and applications.

Interestingly, an increasing number of ICOs have been inquiring about AIDPay because they would like their users to be able to donate crypto directly from their product interfaces, in order to enrich the user experience and give added value. While we’re definitely interested in exploring this area, this post aims to give instructions to the two main AIDPay users: charities and donors.

So, before we enter into further detail, here is a brief recap: AIDPay is a payment gateway/embeddable widget that allows charities registered on the AidChain platform to accept donations in a variety of cryptocurrencies directly through their websites. The donated crypto is then instantly converted into AidCoin (AID) that charities can easily store and manage within a single wallet, providing donation traceability for donors. At the moment, AIDPay processes 22 cryptocurrencies and more options will be added in the near future, such as:

  • Bitcoin
  • Ethereum
  • Litecoin
  • Dash
  • Dogecoin
  • ZCash
  • Augur
  • Attention token
  • Blackcoin
  • Creativecoin
  • Dai Stablecoin
  • Decred
  • Gamecredits
  • Groestlcoin
  • Pivx
  • Peercoin
  • Syscoin
  • BLOCKv
  • VeChain
  • Vertcoin
  • 0x

AIDPay for Charities

Besides giving your charity access to a new pool of donors, the main advantage of using AIDPay is that you will no longer have to manage various crypto wallets and remember keys for all of them, or constantly watch out for the numerous cryptocurrency price fluctuations.

Charity’s page on AIDChain

To start collecting top crypto with AIDPay directly on your website you need to register as a charity on AIDChain. Once the charity page has been created on AIDChain and verified by our team, you will find an “Install AIDPay” button in your charity dashboard (see the screenshot above). That’s where you’ll find the AIDPay code with two color options (see the screenshot below), which you can simply embed in your website and start receiving crypto from your users in a single click.

The AIDPay code to be copied into your website’s page

Once you have built the AIDPay widget into your website page, all the cryptocurrencies you raise will go into your single AIDChain wallet in AidCoin (AID), the token specifically designed to cater for non-profit sector needs. There, you will always be able to check your wallet’s balance and transparently manage your funds, while increasing donors’ trust and, consequently, the sums donated.

AIDPay for Donors

All visitors to the charity’s website will see the AIDPay “Donate in crypto” widget, as shown in the screenshot below, and be able to donate crypto without leaving the website.

Step 1: When activating AIDPay, the user can choose the currency and amount he would like to donate and see how much AID the charity will actually receive (we use the current Bitfinex exchange rate for calculation). We require the user’s email in order to send him a donation receipt and transaction ID, which he’ll need for tracking how the charity’s spending his donation through AIDChain. Another good reason for the user leaving his email address, even if he is not yet registered on AIDChain, is that if he should choose to register in the future all his past donations will appear in his dashboard because he is recognized through his email address. Finally, the last field serves as the user’s wallet address, needed in the case of a refund when a transaction fails — for instance, if the blockchain is overloaded or the gas/commission set by the user in his wallet is too low for the transaction to be verified within 20 minutes.

Step 1: fill in the details

Step 2: Once all the details have been completed, there is just one final step left: scan the QR code with the wallet application or copy-paste the provided wallet address. Once the donation is sent, it will go to our deposit address, be converted automatically into AID and redirected to the charity’s wallet.

Once the donation is transferred, the user will be able to track it on AIDChain either using the transaction ID at the All Donations page or if he’s already registered simply by checking his dashboard where all his up-to-date donations will be listed. In the future, these tracking features will be developed further so that users will be able to see exactly when the charity is spending their particular donation and even receive notifications.

Step 2: screening the QR code / copying the wallet address and processing the donation

AIDPay on AIDChain

AIDPay will undoubtedly be widely adopted among charity websites as well as other players’ websites & applications, in the meantime we’re already using it to receive multi-currency donations through charities’ AIDChain pages in order to make the experience as smooth as possible for all users.

So, it may take charities and ICOs some time to embed AIDPay into their websites but you can try it now on AIDChain and let us know your opinion! We’re looking forward to having your feedback and will let you know when new charities and projects adopt AIDPay.
