15 Stats about Artificial Intelligence that prove it is something you can’t ignore

Read any tech, marketing, or digital focused publication these days and you’ll notice that half the articles mention artificial intelligence. There is a lot of talk, but is it all just hype and buzzwords? AI is literally in our company’s name, so we tend to think there is something to it :)

Here are 15 stats about artificial intelligence is about to take the business world by storm and that prove it is here to stay:

  1. Emarsys reports that 64% of leaders believe that AI technologies are designed for data scientists and do not offer marketer-friendly capabilities. - At Aiden.ai, we are on a mission to fix this.

2. By 2035 labor productivity will have risen by 40% and corporate profitability by 38% due to AI. (Accenture Research as cited by Forbes)

3. According to Microsoft 44% of organisations worry that if they don’t implement AI they will be vulnerable to more disruptive startups.

The Drum recently released results from a comprehensive survey on artificial intelligence that was loaded with some great stats. Some of the most interesting:

4. 85% of respondents think that AI will impact their marketing activity in the next 5 years.

5. 54% of industry professionals believe their company is overlooking the full capabilities of AI.

6. 46% of marketers believe their organisation understands the capabilities of AI. (Which means, there’s still a lot of work to be done!)

7. When asked why they want to invest in AI — 62% of marketers said increasing productivity was their main reason.

8. 34% of companies want to use AI to help with their media buying and planning.

And when it comes to virtual assistants, the numbers speak for themselves:

9. Gartner claims that by 2020 85% of customer interactions will be managed without a human. That is only 3 years away!

10. They also believe that by 2020 40% of mobile interactions will be managed by a virtual assistant.

11. According to this article from The Motley Fool, smart voice assistants will be present on 4 billion devices in 2017.

12. And — by 2020 Alexa alone could be worth $10 billion.

13. 32% of executives say voice recognition is the most-widely used AI technology in their business. (Narrative Science)

AI could soon affect multiple aspects of our lives, not just work and business:

14. AI is set to totally disrupt the healthcare industry. It is predicted that this will be a $6.7 billion market by 2021.

15. 9 million people live in Hangzhou, China — one of the world’s first AI powered smart cities. Residents of this city have many aspects of their lives tracked in order to help the “City Brain” learn and make decisions on things like water supply, traffic control and crime prevention. “AI”, “machine learning”, “chatbot” and “virtual assistant” are all terms that are only going to become more common over the next few years.
