The next innovation? — Our concepts and ideas!
We have realised that we stumble upon new ideas all the time. It’s things that could be improved, or solutions waiting to be developed (or just used). In many of our meetings we get asked if we can solve this or that challenge, and often we can! But often its a bit too far from our core mission. We figured that instead of just saying something like “ well, one day if we get the perfect opportunity/partner/resources we’ll take it on” we can do one better!
Our hope is that someone will find them, read them and adopt them!
If that someone would like to collaborate with us that’s great. But we are just as happy to see someone just do it. It’s all about providing more and better funding for sustainable development!
In this post we‘ll provide a short intro to what we have published, so far (September 2018, to get an updated list, check the site!).
1. A whitepaper about financial solutions and development assistance
(OK, so the first thing on the list is actually NOT a short idea or concept. Sorry! )
We noted that there was no available overview of the financial challenges facing SDG actors working in developing countries.
So we have developed a short whitepaper that provides a first introduction to these challenges, but also some of the possible solutions out there.
The ambition has been to establish an introduction relevant to both development practitioners and financial expertise. So you interested in what should/could be done, check it out!
2. Increase SDG-related investments in emerging markets
There is a huge funding gap in the efforts to reach the SDGs. We are talking USD trillions! But those funds are readily available if we could just help get private capital to shift to investments providing an SDG impact.
There is a huge range of opportunities for “blended finance”, using donor solutions to de-risk possible investments.
The biggest challenge is not getting the funds, its identifying projects that could benefit from investments. This is especially the case in emerging markets. That's why we have two one-pager concepts on the subject:
3. Better SDG funding with efficient financial solutions
Most of you probably know that AidHedge is all about financial innovation for better funding of sustainable development and foreign aid. So it's perhaps no surprise that we got a bunch of ideas about how financial services could be used to improve both effectiveness and impact:
- Increased social and climate impact with predictable commodity pricing
- Financial services for sustainable development and foreign aid
- FX-price comparison for SDG:s and foreign aid
4. New technical solutions to increase transparency and effectiveness
Finally, there are some ideas that basically spring from our own tech development. Our platform is fully packed with functionality, but there are some really cool things that we still dream of!
- Effective AI-contracting for sustainable development and foreign aid
- Revolutionize financial management with PSD2 and Open Banking
Found some cool ideas? Good! Get in touch to let us know if we should collaborate on the solution, or where we can find yours!
