Automation, innovation and digitalisation were the key subjects discussed when the UAE’s Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology, H.E. Sarah bint Yousif Al Amiri, visited the electrical engineering solutions group Bin Ghalib.

Topics included the role of AI in the future of manufacturing, and how other industry challenges could be solved through digitalisation, automation and technology.

The Minister said: “In line with the objectives of Operation 300 billion, Industry 4.0 and the Technology Transformation Programme, we are working to boost the competitiveness and sustainability of the industrial sector as well as increase its production capacity and quality.”

She highlighted the UAE’s work to position the country as a knowledge-based investment hub “in line with our national objectives to digitize and automate the industrial sector.”

Meanwhile, efforts to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a leader in environmental action, studies and research were highlighted at a meeting of the Environment Agency — Abu Dhabi (EAD) and, notably, the ambitions included a focus on technological progress.

H.E. Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, EAD Chairman, said the EAD was always looking to the future, which included increasing its global profile as a city that looks to the future.

“The Middle East region is recognising the importance of automation, including the way that it can support sustainable operations, and there is huge commitment to exploring and developing automation in ports and logistics,” said Dr Rafiq Swash, Founder and CEO of Aidrivers.

“From Aidrivers’ point of view, we are proud to be working closely with Abu Dhabi Ports, jointly considering the implementation of autonomous terminal trucks and other transport equipment in Mina Zayed Port.”

Aidrivers is stepping up its involvement in the Middle East region and looks forward to working with new colleagues to develop sustainable, efficient, effective and zero-waste autonomous solutions in ports, logistics and other sectors.
