Don’t we all love new-comers ?

The smile on their faces, the motivation and excitement in their voices as they start their new adventures within our group …

It is widely considered (and acknowledged) that someone onboarding into a new mission, job or role is optimally able to make sustainable changes within the context of this role in the first 3 months.

That does not sound like a lot, but this is the period where people ask the difficult questions and challenge the status-quo. 3 months to make changes.

It is therefore natural that we — as innovation soldiers and aficionados of challenges — are leading our new Ignitees along on a short but intense journey through innovation on their very first week of their Capgemini adventure.

We hope that with them learning about innovation practices, methods, being inspired and empowered to think freely around a challenge will eventually spurt some new innovation centred initiatives all around the company as these precious souls make their way through Capgemini.

This week’s theme was about the Future of Automotive, and we had the pleasure of driving the agenda with our partners from Volvo Cars and Google Cloud and built a pretty robust context for our innovators to come up with a concept.

1 theme, 3 streams : In-Car Experience, Supply Chain Leaders and People Experience.

Let’s have a look at what the Innovation Week Edition 2023 was all about !

Around Design Thinking

At the AIE, we are rather big fans of Design Thinking, the methodologies that it provides but more importantly the freeing philosophy that it beams upon innovation centred endeavours.

Naturally, the week itself is oriented around these cycling core principles of Learning, Ideating and Prototyping. We have sessions about methods and tools to help the participants working as a team through this intense journey, but also and more important perhaps are the insights from our partners who work on these themes themselves on a daily basis — we want to hear their pain, understand the challenges they are facing.

It’s all about the people, people !

The concepts ranged from GenAI driven, customisable training platform to elevate the employee’s knowledge about the transformation of their industries all the way to vigorously autonomous systems that reimagine the in-car experience of the future through to clever concepts of supply chain components aiming to centralise and normalise the waste in materials and enable a circular fashion to what’s traditionally a downstream industry value chain.

And the winner is ….

Following the submission of a 3 min video explaining their concept, we had a day of judging, with judges carefully selected among our partners and colleagues all around the world.

During our beloved and stars-packed Awards Ceremony, we have had the pleasure of letting the floor to Volvo Group Strategist Joakim Jardenberg, aka “The Internet Guy” and our very own Cara Antoine, CTIO for Capgemini Nordics who truly inspired us with their innovation wisdom and journey.

An amazingly wholesome hour very well spent that we hope serves as a fantastic commencement experience to our Ignitees for their career at Capgemini.

In the end, it was close, but the council of judges has spoken — team 6 is the winner !
Congrats to them — their concept VolvoKNOW has caught the favours of the jury with how well they identified and defined the problem that they targeted, and rolled out an optimistic but conceivable plan to tackle it.

Closing in this TWAIE with a glorious meme from the innovation week :

Until next time, keep innovating !
