David, we’d like to thank you for all that you have done for our board — forever and always — but more specifically in the last three years. Your vision and hard work have helped to shape our board and the Chicago design community to be a place more inclusive of everyone.

Not to say that that job is done, but we have made giant leaps in these last few years — from an incredible awards ceremony that featured design that AIGA had never supported previously, to shaping our Board of Directors to bring initiatives like Design for Good, Diversity & Inclusion and Community Engagement to the forefront.

You worked to reshape our mission to reach further across the realm of design and put up boundaries as to what we are here to accomplish.

This design community flows though your life — it’s evident from the folks you’ve surrounded yourself with on our board. From your family to your practice, to your teaching and more, it all intertwines to lift up design and designers.

We are honored to have had you as a fierce advocate and leader of the AIGA Chicago Chapter…and we are excited that you love us as much as you do (so we can keep you working with us on initiatives like Office Ours)!

Let’s all raise a glass and a sign in honor of David.

Thank you, and see you soon.

AIGA Chicago is always working to embrace, amplify, and advance designers and the role of design in our community. Keep your eyes peeled for more online events aimed to serve our communities near and far. If you’re interested in joining our team on a volunteer basis or donating to our chapter, we’d love to hear from you. Reach out to Kelly Knaga at kel@chicago.aiga.org for more information.
