here’s Two-week AIKEA progress report !

#1 Packaging

In order to further our mission to provide environmentally friendly products, the AIKEA team specially selected eco-friendly packaging materials that can be easily recycled or reused. No plastic packaging materials, but when we were choosing the box we hesitated between kraft paper, cardboard, and recycled paper. Although we decided on using recycled paper boxes that cost more than twice as much, we figured that with a higher quality material our AIKEA customers can also reuse the box for storing other things. The recyclable packaging material we selected was also chosen in hopes of reducing our carbon footprint.

And our AIKEA prototype is now production ready!
Last week we ordered all the RPi 4s from the UK!

But even bigger news, is that the AIKEA custom cover was 3D printed and finalized. Now, we’re just waiting on software debugging and testing to compete before we can start shipping to everyone!

P.S.
Though we’ve mentioned this before, we would like to remind that AIKEA won’t be coming with a type C cord and Adaptor. Both in order to reduce electronic waste in providing cords that were too long or too short for each AIKEA user’s intended use case. Powering up AIKEA however will work with any cellphone charger and USB type C connector that you have at home!
