September means a fresh start and a new semester for most of our global business school partners. We can’t wait to help new and returning professors use the AIM2Flourish curriculum in their classes and publish their students’ SDGs Solutions stories on AIM2Flourish.com.

It’s also a wonderful time for connecting to colleagues and friends around the Global Goals and recommitting ourselves to achieving the “World’s Must-Do List” by 2030. In NYC, there is a full calendar of events, conferences, and concerts as Global Goals week, NYC Climate Week, the International Conference on Sustainable Development, and the United Nations General Assembly happen in the span of 10 days. AIM2Flourish will be at most of these events, so please send an email to meet up.

PRME Latin American & Caribbean Meeting

2017 PRME Meeting for Latin America & Caribbean, September 12
The 6th PRME Chapter LAC Regional Meeting will take place on 12 September at ISAE/FGV Business School in Curitiba, Brazil.

Goal 16: Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions

ICV Global Youth Summit, September 15
On September 15, the observance of the International Day of Peace, at the United Nations Headquarters, ICV and PeaceDay365 will convene the next generation of Senior UN Leaders, Change Makers, Social Entrepreneurs and Philanthropists to educate and inspire all ages to think more creatively about their role as global citizens.

The Youth Summit will address key trends in peace building, global citizenship education and the Sustainable Development Goals where innovation, government, business leadership and young people can leverage their strengths for social impact. AIM2Flourish Director Claire Sommer will present on a panel titled “ Threading the SDGs: Global Citizenship, Business and the Media Industry Matrix. Learn more.

Global Goals Week, September 16–23
Global Goals Week brings together brings together individuals, governments, businesses, international organizations, NGOs, and other partners to amplify the conversation around the UN General Assembly and foster support for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Launched by UNDP, Project Everyone, and the UN Foundation in 2016, Global Goals Week showcase ideas, solutions, and partnerships that raise awareness about, drive action on, and promote accountability for these global goals. New York Social Good Summit, September 17
Held annually during the United Nations General Assembly week, the Social Good Summit unites a lively community of global citizens and progressive thought leaders to discuss how we can unlock technology’s potential to make the world a better place by the year 2030. Global Alliance for Reporting Progress on Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies

UN’s Global Alliance for Reporting Progress on Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies, September 18
The Global Alliance is a coordinating platform for UN Member States, private sector, civil society, and international entities to work together to promote peaceful, just, and inclusive societies. It’s an institutional innovation to enable the joint action and ‘new ways of working’ that the UN General Assembly called for, in order to achieve the SDGs. This side event, hosted by White & Case includes a high-level panel discussion moderated by Pulitzer prize-winner and New York Times columnist Nick Kristof. AIM2Flourish Founding Executive Director Roberta Baskin will be there, joining representatives from major global companies, Member States, civil society, UN and international organizations to discuss what businesses are doing to create more peaceful, just and inclusive. Business Fights Poverty “Rethinking Collaboration for the SDGs”

This inspiring and action-focused half-day event on how business, government and civil society are collaborating to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals is now sold out. UN’s Global Alliance for Reporting Progress on Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies, September 18

This side-event will involve a high-level panel discussion moderated by Pulitzer prize-winner and New York Times columnist Nick Kristof, and will be attended by major global companies, Member States, civil society, UN and international organizations to discuss what businesses are doing to create more peaceful, just and inclusive societies, and how they can help governments to both achieve and report on SDG 16 and related goals and targets. AIM2Flourish’s Founding Executive Director Roberta Baskin will share one of AIM2Flourish’s most inspiring stories. International Conference on Sustainable Development, September 18–19

Local Impact, Global Lessons: Scaling Solutions to Achieve the SDGs, September 18
This event is convened by the SDG Philanthropy Platform, Locus Coalition, and Scalable Solutions Funders Initiative. We’re looking forward to attending to learn more about approaches that achieve sustained impact at the local level, and how the philanthropy sector can better support partners to scale solutions beyond the local to the national and international levels.

UN Global Compact Leaders Summit, September 21
The UN Global Compact Leaders Summit 2017 will gather global leaders to inspire true leadership for the SDGs, present highlights of General Assembly week and chart the way ahead for increased public-private collaboration to create the world we want. The Summit serves as the annual opportunity to unveil the UN Global Compact’s latest intelligence from Action Platforms, generate meaningful and innovative engagement opportunities around the SDGs. AIM2Flourish will be co-announcing a new global learning initiative for the Global Goals in collaboration with our partners.

Changing the “Business as Usual” Model, September 21
We are looking forward to attending this event, held in partnership with the SDG Fund and Concordia. The International Peace Institute will launch a research paper that focuses on the following questions: What does it mean in practice for the private sector to become a partner for sustainable development and sustaining peace? How can companies reduce the risk associated with investing in countries under stress? What tools can be used to scale-up investments and unlock the resources needed to implement the 2030 Agenda? Know Your Goals Campaign, October 2017
Our friends at Sustainable Development Solutions Network Youth are sponsoring a global #KnowYourGoals campaign in October. Individuals and organizations worldwide, particularly young people, are invited to organize an event (preferably during October 2017), in an effort to mobilize local support and awareness of the SDGs. This is a great way to show your AIM2Flourish support for the business leaders in your community who are showing everyone that SDGs action is both positive and profitable. Get involved.

GRLI Deans and Directors Cohort Launch, October 16–18
AIM2Flourish is deeply honored to be participating in the Deans and Directors Cohort at the University of Guelph, Canada. This collaborative event is convened by the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative, an EFMD, AACSB International and UN Global Compact strategic partnership inclusive of the PRME. AIM2Flourish Director Claire Sommer will attend with Weatherhead School of Management colleagues Rob Widing and Katherine Gullet to explore AIM2Flourish’s growth in service to positive business education.
