Here’s What it Means If You’re into Writing
“Start writing, no matter what. The water does not flow until the faucet is turned on.” — Louis L’Amour
Art comes in many forms, we do not choose which one we want, it chooses us. You are born with a certain talent, and then you build up on it, by enhancing your skills through learning more about it and practicing it. You should not let go of something you are good at, you need to allow it to grow with you.
In our younger years we cannot identify writing as a form of hobby, interest, skill, and/or passion, for the simple reason that there are so many around us who do not help us see it that way. That’s okay, because they probably have a different form of interest, one involving physical activity. But you will notice that if you’re good at writing, your Language teacher will spot it and encourage you.
The benefits you get from being a writer, even at a young age at school or university, are plenty.
Creativity & imagination
When you are capable of putting your five senses into words, that is a beautiful form of artistic expression. Imagination along with creativity puts you in a beautiful therapeutic state; a lot of people cannot find the right way to let out what they are feeling, they end up bundling up toxic emotions inside. Creativity itself improves your problem-solving skills and your approach towards those problems.
Your perspective of the world around you
The world becomes a show for you, and I do not mean that negatively, I mean your view of what’s happening around you is different than that of others. You create a sense of awareness about the world; one that is new, every time. That is directly related to your sense of creativity.
Expression of self and boost in confidence
Writing becomes your method of expression, every time you experience something you’ll be aware that you can share it with everyone through your writing skills, which makes it easier for you to let it out. Your self-confidence strengthens as you start developing a ‘voice’ in what you believe in. Actually seeing your words on paper gives you a great confidence boost.
Improvement of communication & persuasive skills
In order to write a good piece, one needs to consider planning, organizing, and using the right proper language to fit your target. All of that requires an amount of organized thoughts before putting everything together, which helps in developing your structuring skills. When writing to persuade, for instance, one time after the other the habit of building systematic thinking enhances.
If writing is one of your interests then you need to take that passion seriously. It is amazing for your future if you are able to excel at something you love doing. Allow this interest to take up from your time to make you a great writer, and who knows, maybe someday you’ll become a professional one.
