AI vs HI

We are pouring billions into AI.

Would HI be a better investment?

Test

A very simple test reveals just how dangerous ignoring HI can be.

Neither OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Google’s Bard were able to understand or answer this simple question:

β€œWhat sinkhole is bigger than the USA? How many times bigger?”

Both had to be spoon-fed both the name and size of the sinkhole before being able to reference actual facts while equivocating.

HI is indispensable

Bard estimates there are 25,000 economics professors in the USA.

At least one of them knows the exact answer.

If at least one in a hundred of his colleagues know about his work, at least a further 2,500 economics professors in the USA know the exact answer.

His work has also been extensively published, in plain English, in the mainstream media.

If at least one in a hundred have read at least one of these articles, at least a further 3,000,000 humans in the USA know the exact answer.

Too much analysis and too little synthesis is killing us

Both ChatGPT and Bard however know nothing at all about either the problem or the solution. They are also grossly impaired by an inability to detect and navigate metaphor or to synthesize.

Albert Einstein, Russell Ackoff, and friends repeatedly explained and demonstrated the astounding power of (rarely used) synthesis to overcome the default setting in science, society, business, and government: perennial paralysis by analysis (picture by CS Holling, Howard Silverman, and Christine Angel)

It is not all bad news. There is good news. Thanks to the work of Einstein and friends astounding developments in HI are now unfolding.

We therefore now know exactly what needs to be done to start remediating the gargantuan sinkhole, hopefully before it implodes and deletes the world economy:
