Just when you thought Google was falling behind in the AI war, they released the Kraken on the AI world.

In their latest I/O 2023 event, Google announced an onslaught of new AI features such as Duet AI, Magic Editor, Bard upgrades, Med-PaLM, and much more.

But one major part of the announcement is the introduction to PaLM 2, a transformer language model trained on a massive dataset of text and code.

At I/O, we announced over 25 new products and features powered by PaLM 2. That means that PaLM 2 is bringing the latest in advanced AI capabilities directly into our products and to people — including consumers, developers, and enterprises of all sizes around the world.

What makes PaLM 2 so amazing?

According to Google, it’s really good at Math, Code, Reasoning, and Multilingual translation. It was trained in over 100 spoken languages and 20 programming languages.

But what makes it crazy is that you can also translate between different programming languages, such as converting Python to R, C++ to REST, or JavaScript to TypeScript.
