Should I use AI to make money or should I not

This is going to be an article mostly from my perspective on things and I

am sure there are hundreds if not thousands of things I haven’t thought

about when it comes to the topic but I struggle with this question daily. I

see all these articles and these youtube posts about using AI to make

hundreds of dollars a day and all I can think of is man I really could use

that kind of money but I am sure 95% of the population would say the

same thing who couldn’t use extra money every day. Especially when some

claim you can make thousands of dollars a day, but let’s be a bit more

realistic and say using AI you could make an extra $100 a day how many

people couldn’t use an extra roughly $3,000 a month I know that would

significantly change my lifestyle. The questions are should you and is it OK

to do?

Let me try and tackle should you use it first and like I said earlier this is

mostly just from my perspective. I will say I am very conflicted cause on

the one hand it is just another tool like anything we have had before that

can aid us in doing something better or faster, but on the other hand it

takes from all over the internet, and at this point it isn’t 100% accurate at

all the times. I have seen chat-gpt make many mistakes over my time

interacting with it, so I know first hands the danger of using it without

fact-checking what it produces. If we take away the second question of

whether it is OK to use AI to make money; then I would say the question

should you use it would be yes but with some fail safes in place. First, no

matter what information it gives; you need to go through and double-check

the information yourself. Will this slow down the process yes but it is

better than you putting false information out there that others might

believe is true.

Onto the second question is it OK to use AI to make money well that is a lot

more complicated question and is harder to answer. At the moment of

writing this, I am under the impression there is nothing legally wrong with

using AI as if it was your own information, but not only can that change in

my opinion it should change. I think using AI as an extension to help is

great and I have zero issue with people using it to help them with any

problems. The issue occurs when you use AI for the majority of what you

are doing and pass it off as your own. For instance, say you tell chat-gpt to

write a review for a book if you don’t proofread it for errors and make

hardly any changes then that to me is at best a grey area and worst

basically plagiarizing. Now say you do that same thing but you go through

and edit it fix the mistakes and change the wording so that you are

contributing a significant amount of your own work in that case I think it is

OK again this is all just my opinion and I am sure many many people will

disagree with me strongly one way or the other and I can respect that

because like I said there are so many angles I probably haven’t even

thought of yet. I haven’t even touched on using other people’s intellectual

property, but since I am not as clear on it all I won’t go into detail but at

best it’s another thorny area.

In conclusion, I am super excited about AI and I can’t wait to see where it

goes from here. I am also very nervous about where it is right now and

what it means for anyone who uses it, but I believe as long as you do a

significant amount of your own work (fact-checking and whatnot) and

don’t just copy and paste; then using AI to profit off of is something I

believe can be good.

If you agree or disagree let me know (please be respectful I am not trying

to say my thinking is right just putting my thoughts out there). I hope

everyone has an amazing day, week, and life :)
