AIMS Community Digest is part of our bespoke digital publication at African Institute of Mathematical Sciences. This digest is home to fresh perspectives on STEM for development. AIMS Community Digest is hosted on medium and serves as a space for our community — alumni, students, staff, researchers, faculty, partners and supporters — to share their research outcomes, insights, thought leadership and ideas with the world.

How do I get published on AIMS Community Digest?

We believe by delivering fresh and compelling thought leadership from our rich and diverse community, we are shaping the future we want. Hence, our goal is to facilitate inclusion and collaboration as we seek and publish submissions.

Step 1: Take a look at the types of content we publish

Though we hope to keep the authenticity of our contributors’ voice, we are not looking for overly personal or extremely academic submissions. What we are looking for is fresh takes, creative formats, and original pieces. We are also open to cross-publishing pieces that align with our objectives for our readership.

Step 2: Consider these guidelines

1. Be brief, and not too short. Your draft should be roughly between 300–800 words. Do you have more to say? We suggest you pitch us a series of posts!

2. Pay attention to detail. Please submit your stories with a high resolution photo and credit in your submission together with a max-3 sentence bio at the end.

3. Check your lens. As much as possible, ask someone with a different background from yours to do a first review and share feedback with you before you submit to us.

Step 3: Pitch us your story by emailing medium@nexteinstein.org

We are always on a lookout to receive your stories/submissions and if you are a regular, we will add you as a contributor.

Step 4: Support us publicize your piece with the world.

When we publish your post, we’ll send you a link which we encourage you to share widely! We’ll also share on AIMS social media pages, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. In case you shared your social media handles with us, we’ll tag you in our posts.

Do you have questions? Email sadotey@nef.org. In case of technical difficulties, visit Medium’s support section or reach out to their amazing support staff.

Note: AIMS-NEI reserves the right not to publish pieces at our discretion. This includes those that may be inappropriate or are not in line with our editorial guideline.
