This week we mostly researched the real-world data for CO2 emissions.

Spritmonitor.de

Spritmonitor.de is an online database which has over 300,000 users, offering comprehensive on-road fuel consumption data for cars in Germany. Users have the ability to select a specific vehicle model, the year it was built, and its precise configuration to input information regarding fuel consumption and the distance covered.

honestjhon.co.uk

HonestJhon is a consumer motoring website operating in the United Kingdom, enabling individuals to contribute real-world fuel consumption information. Users have the option to choose a specific vehicle model and engine configuration, inputting their day-to-day driving experiences to report fuel consumption. Unlike spritmonitor.de, where the website calculates fuel consumption based on fuel purchases and odometer readings, HonestJhon users directly enter data in miles per gallon (MPG).
For conversion from MPG to g CO2/km, the following factors can be applied:
1 imperial gallon = 4.55 liters;
1 mile = 1.61 km;
2.43 kg CO2 per liter of gasoline
2.65 kg CO2 per liter of diesel.

What Car?

WhatCar? is a British automobile magazine targeted at consumers intending to purchase vehicles. Since 2012, WhatCar? has published real-world fuel consumption data from its True MPG tests. The underlying data source is a series of on-road vehicle tests using Portable Emission Measurement System (PEMS) equipment, which is generally accepted as a very accurate way of measuring emissions and fuel consumption. These tests are carried out by Emissions Analytics, a vehicle emissions analysis firm, on behalf of the magazine.
