Playing Bigger

This year has been a roller-coaster; some thrills and some moments when our stomachs felt like they were in our throats. Through it all, the team at the Aion Foundation — all 53 of us between Shanghai, Toronto, London, and Barbados — have been tirelessly working on delivering our technical roadmap for our users.

We’ve been stubborn in our belief that we will continue to demonstrate our value by building. We built and launched the AVM enabling developers to build production-grade Java applications on a public blockchain; we’ve built a world-class developer experience through our tools and docs, and we’re well on our way to completing Unity which will better secure our network and engage our stakeholders.

In the process of building, we’ve been conducting user and industry research to answer these important questions: What problems are we solving? Who will use our solutions? Why does this matter to the real world?

To that end, we’re in the midst of some meaningful strategic planning internally and with some of our partners. One of the hardest things to do in any business, including ours, is to deliver a clear articulation of what is unique to us and to the solutions we provide — how we can help solve specific problems for our stakeholders in a differentiated way.

To do this right, we’re rebuilding our narrative to articulate who we are to a larger audience; we’re hiring people in research, engineering, developer relations, marketing, and growth; and we’re growing our network of partners globally, including in Asia — all to make sure our vision is backed by solid action and results. We are excited to share more about our new plans in the coming months, and how our work to date with all of you has established the bedrock for our future. Out of this, you’ll understand our roadmap for how we will help lead this industry towards something bigger.

In the meantime, it’s business as usual. We remain committed to our users and our holders. We understand that our community is made up of equally important groups of stakeholders; all of whom need to be considered in our long-term strategy. You’re the priority that drives us — our users, our holders, our miners, our believers.

I can’t wait to tell you what’s coming, and to show you how you can come along for the ride.

Strap in — this should be fun!
