Crypto in developing countries

Although the blockchain opens a new stream of income to all people all over the world including developing countries through tokenization, many places in Africa and the rest of the developing world lack the access to international payment systems due to limited resources.
Payment methods like POS, credit cards and mobile payments may not exist or limited to the minority. In addition to others, they form 1.6 billion unbanked people where 1.2 of them has no identity. Thus, incorporating these people in the new tokenized economy will be difficult and useless for them as long as there is no mean to use the earned tokens for live expenses such as paying rent, bills, food, medicine and clothes.
Air Transfer Protocol (ATP) to the rescue
If you haven’t yet read about the air transfer protocol, I suggest reading this 3 minutes article. To recap,
Air Transfer Protocol is the world’s first open-source P2P protocol powering decentralized remittance
where it allows anyone across the globe to convert tokens to a cash fiat in local currency or in USD from a nearby retailer such as a shop or post office in minutes. For more about this topic, you can refer to “the bridge between crypto and cash fiat” 3 minutes article here.
Conclusion
Developing countries market is difficult due to technology limitation and needs special handling and in particular for the payment space where people will need different ways to get paid or receive money other than mobile wallets or credit cards; transactions in such areas are usually done in cash payments.
To reach these far places where the technology are limited to a few, it requires a large incentivised network of retailers where those with access to tech and linked to the crypto world can proxy some of the benefits to the majority of people.
Air Transfer Protocol (ATP) is the infrastructure of such worldwide P2P incentivised network built on Ethereum network with the help of smart contracts and stable coins.
For the technical details about the ATP protocol, you can always refer to AirTransferProtocol.io or jump ahead directly to the white paper here.
This is Ahmad Elsokkary, founder of Air Transfer and I’d love to hear your thoughts! Please, stay tuned for more to come about ATP and ATS.
