Airblock Technologies Selected for U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Air Force “Revolutionizing United States Air Force Operations” AFWERX Showcase

August 6, 2021 | BOSTON, MA — This morning, Airblock Technologies announced that it was selected for the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Air Force’s prestigious AFWERX program and its “Revolutionizing United States Air Force Operations” showcase. AFWERX is a United States Air Force program with the overall goal of fostering a culture of innovation within the service. The program had over 80 government and military evaluators review a total of 274 submissions, and Airblock was selected in the top 53. The program kick-off took place this week Monday, August 2nd and will include an in-person showcase at the USAF Innovation Center in Las Vegas, Nevada on August the 24th.

This news comes at a time when the the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Department of Defense are calling for improved aircraft maintenance operations to reduce the aircraft maintenance turnaround times (TAT). Agencies, both in the public and private sectors, are searching for ways to increase aircraft utilization, as well as implement predictive maintenance and enhanced data-driven decision-making.

“When I initially assessed the pains of aviation industry operations after more than 15+ years working for this industry, I knew paper-based processes and complex value chains were issues affecting the commercial side of the industry, but I never imagined this idea would bring the attention of governmental agencies, such as the U.S. Department of the Defense and the U.S. Air Force,” said Janet Chacon, CEO and co-founder of Airblock. “I am truly honored to have our company selected for the prestigious AFWERX program, and I look forward to digitizing manual and analog processes with our platform, network, and award-winning team.

“As we continue to build the Airblock network and platform, having the opportunity to be recognized by and work alongside key governmental agencies, like the Department of Defense and the U.S. Air Force, makes the work we are doing at Airblock all that more meaningful,” said Brian H. Hough, CTO and co-founder of Airblock. “As the original and foundational concepts and developments of Airblock evolved, even before our incorporation in 2019, we take great pride in these successful steps today, from inception and development to realization and implementation, as a trusted voice in the industry.”
