We receive degrees and qualifications after years of schooling and college, but fear sets in when we find ourselves unemployed! Why are there so many young people in India jobless? Because the Indian education system concentrates on an instructor-based approach and rote learning, we have been facing a skill enhancement shortage throughout the educational process.

Our country is progressing on the right path, and the only way to keep up with it is to combine skills and knowledge. In India, millions of students graduate from various courses each year, but the vast majority of them are jobless.

According to a report, 1.5 lakh engineering students graduated from 650 colleges in 2015, yet 80 percent are still jobless. Despite government measures aimed at improving skill- development, there is still a wide disparity between supply and demand, with students voicing their dissatisfaction with very few career options and businesses longing for quality employees.

Some Points to Notice:

1. The content we are offered is rather outdated or has nothing to do with current events and needs to be overhauled.

2. In today’s modern world, everyone is obsessed with grades because every exam’s minimum percentage follows them. Everybody is adopting shortcut methods to obtain achievement without exerting any labor to earn higher marks.

3.Another barrier to obtaining necessary job-ready skills among students is the limited usage of technology in education.

Now let us discuss both the terms individually with their key characteristics for a better understanding:

Degree:-

To begin, let’s make it clear that having a degree doesn’t mean you would get a job. The advantages have an impact on many aspects of life- academic, social, sports, psychological, artistic, economic, and so on. As a result, while experience may tell you that- doing things that way doesn’t work education provides you with the theoretical understanding and analytical skills to demonstrate why it doesn’t. Education improves your learning speed and ability to study in detail.

Skills:-

Nowadays, it appears like everyone has or wants a degree, and there is still a strong desire to begin one as soon as feasible. Is it, however, the best course of action? Imparting Skills isn’t a one-time activity; it’s something that should have been incorporated into university education.

The number of graduates every year and the corresponding employment numbers are inextricably linked. According to reports, most graduates are unemployed. This is because despite having a bachelor’s degree, many of them lack the necessary abilities to find work in today’s ever-changing employment market.

A degree is never more significant than a skill. However, if a person possesses good skills, as well as a strong level of self-confidence, he will almost certainly advance to a superior position. An individual’s skill will assist them in earning money as well as attaining a higher position

The huge problems of expense, efficiency, and name are evident in Indian education, necessitating immediate solutions. A degree is a way to gain a job in a corporation or firm, but it does not guarantee success.

But the world is changing and companies have started valuing skills over degrees.
