Welcome Back Everybody!

It’s Sai here at you with another issue of Airdrafts- a weekly publication where I update all my users on everything that’s going on with the development of Airgift. We’re at 129 Airgift users on the waitlist so far. It’s absolutely awesome to see the number increasing with every issue. Make sure you’ve got your friends on here so they can reserve their handle. The waitlist is starting to mount up!

All About Airchats

As I promised last week, I was able to make significant progress on Airchats and have an awesome demo for you available. As you know from Issue #3, Airchats is Airgift’s messaging platform that comes with encrypted messaging (if you so choose), several chat modes, and as with any aspect of Airgift: a really fun chat UI!

I’m confident that if the AR doesn’t get there, Airchats as a standalone app will be amazing. It’s fast, secure, and actually looks like it was built for the newer generation. Of course, there are still quite a few bugs to hash out but by December, it will be your next favorite messaging platform.

For the beta users in June, here’s what you can expect this summer from Airchats:

  • Choice to enable encrypted messaging
  • Default chat mode (Ghost and Cursor will follow soon)
  • 32 people in one Airchat room
  • Private Notifications
  • Sending images and text messages (video, GIFs, audio, will follow)
  • Favoriting your top Airchats
  • And much, much more with each beta release
Always read the chats in our mockups 😉

Update on Development

As with every issue, I let you know of the goals I was able to accomplish with Airgift along with what I hope to accomplish for the week. The end of May marks an important milestone for the alpha development of Airgift. With the basic feature of Airchats functional, it’s time to move on to the future.

Upcoming Week

This upcoming week, I’ll be spending a lot of time planning and developing the core AR functionality for Airgift. As you know, Airgift will be combining the best of both worlds: AR and geospatial technology. It’s crucial to get the UX right so utilizing AR is not cumbersome. It’s also important to respect a user’s location history so there will be a lot of work being done behind the scenes for that.

As always, give both Twitter accounts below a follow and I’ll be sharing videos and mockups of the development journey throughout the week. That’s all for this week. See you soon!
