A Great New Look
When it comes to security-focused solutions, the vast majority of them tend to have an archaic appearance. However, when we were developing AirGap, our goal was to create a solution that was secure and aesthetically pleasing.
We wanted to make sure AirGap looked modern and felt easy to use, with the right combination of efficiency and straightforward UX. Through the years, our community has provided us with feedback, and we have finally face lifted the majority of the AirGap experience to make it less complicated and more user-friendly.
What’s new?
Logo and Colours
After five years in use we decided that the logo needs to be simplified so it can be adapted more easily.
Furthermore, we decided to move a way from the pink colour in the Vault app and switch to a calmer light purple. In the screenshots you will notice the difference right away.
Onboarding
We added an onboarding process that gives an intro to the functions of AirGap Vault and how it can be paired with AirGap Wallet and other watch-only wallets like MetaMask, Sparrow, or BlueWallet.
Setup Type
During the setup, you now need to specify whether the device is an online or an offline device. In the future, this specification would help implement functionality that tests if your wallet has had any network connection.
Secret Tab
The “Accounts” tab in the bottom navigation has been removed and replaced by the “Secrets” tab. The secrets are no longer managed in the settings but rather in the secrets tab. This should make the relationship between secrets and accounts clearer.
Advanced Mode
The advanced mode is no longer available under the add account. The purpose of this implementation was to hide away the complexity of such a setup and prevent a user from using the functionality indeliberately. Within the settings, there is an option to activate the advanced mode. The default is the “Simple” mode, which hides some intricacies.
Add Account
Previously, you could only add one protocol at a time. It was cumbersome if you had to add multiple protocols. With the new UI improvement, you can now add two or more protocols at once.
Remove Account
Just like adding an account, previously, you could remove one protocol at a time. You can now remove two or more protocols at once.
Blur Recovery Phrases
The recovery phrase is now blurred. The user is responsible for manually disabling the blur effect, which will be re-enabled after a delay of 30 seconds. This feature makes your account more secure by making it impossible for someone to look over your shoulder and see your recovery phrase.
Entropy collection
The screen that shows the secret generation has been changed to explain how entropy collection is done.
Interaction Settings
The wording was changed to better explain the purpose of the interaction settings.

Offline Device → QR Code Scanning
Recovery Phrase Backup Rules
The page displaying the best practices for the recovery phrase backup now requires the user to accept each point to continue to the next page.
Lifehash Identicons (Advanced Only)
If the advanced mode is enabled, the lifehash of the recovery phrase will display in the card of each secret.
Recovery Phrase Fingerprint (Advanced Only)
If the advanced mode is enabled, the fingerprint of the recovery phrase will be displayed in the secret card, and when adding a new secret.
Sync All Secrets (Advanced Only)
If the advanced mode is enabled, it is now possible to sync all accounts of multiple secrets with one animated QR code.
Duplicate Secrets
Duplicate secrets is no longer possible.
Secret Setup
The Secret Setup page was also redesigned.
About Page
The About page was redesigned, and some useful resources were added.
