With AirGap we decided a secure but accessible approach to security for various crypto assets is of utmost importance. We’ve always had an eye on Tezos, especially with the Foundation’s roots in our home country, Switzerland. Being supported by the Tezos Foundation with a grant, made it possible for us to bring our vision for AirGap to the Tezos ecosystem.

Tezos transactions with AirGap

For a successful AirGap transaction AirGap Vault and AirGap Wallet are needed. There are two possible ways to use the AirGap wallet system.

¬ offline device approach

The most secure approach ist to generate a new secret on an offline de with AirGap Vault. Secure storage and signing happen completely offline, the communication with the online counterpart, AirGap Wallet is done with QR codes.

¬ same device approach

For accounts with smaller funds or needs of improved usability. AirGap Vault and Wallet can be installed on the same device and still profit from added security instead if the secret would be managed by the same wallet app.

¬ Download
You can download AirGap Vault for iOS and Android as well as AirGap Wallet for iOS and Android from the respective stores or the Android version directly from GitHub.

What does Beta mean?

AirGap Vault and Wallet add support for Tezos in version 1.6. We call this a Beta or Limited release, because currently only address generation of “tz” addresses are possible. A full release with support for operations and generations of “kt” addresses as well as delegation with follow in the new few weeks.

What are the next steps?

Besides the release of the full support for Tezos, we have many plans for the near future that are exciting for developers as well as users. Shortly we will publish a write-up on parts of our implementation that will be open source.

Our goal is to make the Tezos ecosystem more secure and accessible.
