As we have expanded our support for different currencies over the years, we are proud to now also offer integration with the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP), a highly requested blockchain from our community. We are thrilled to have partnered closely with ICP to make this integration a reality and look forward to continued collaboration and development on this exciting platform.

Internet Computer Protocol Explained

The Internet Computer Protocol (ICP), is a blockchain infrastructure that is built by Dfinity, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing decentralized technology. Their goal is to create a new internet that is more secure, decentralized, scalable, and innovative. The ICP is an open-source decentralized network that aims to revolutionize the internet by offering a new way of building and running applications. This next-generation computing infrastructure provides scalability, decentralization, security, and high performance.

ICP uses the unique “Threshold Relay” consensus mechanism for fast, secure consensus even with a large number of nodes. The network also features the Internet Computer virtual machine, providing a secure and scalable platform for hosting decentralized applications. For example, traditional blockchains are designed to support only smart contracts, akin to a backend and database in Web 2.0. However, the ICP infrastructure enables the hosting of complete Dapps, including both the frontend and backend components.

The ICP network envisions a new type of internet that prioritizes security, decentralization, scalability, and innovation. It offers a secure and scalable alternative to the current internet and a new way to build and run decentralized applications.

About AirGap

AirGap is a software Wallet that turns a spare mobile phone into a hardware Wallet. It achieves this by using two apps, AirGap Vault, and AirGap Wallet. Those can be downloaded from the Appstore, the Google playstore or directly the APK

AirGap Vault

AirGap Vault is a blockchain-agnostic and interoperable crypto Vault that turns your mobile phone into a hardware wallet. It does not connect to any network, irrespective of the device used. This system built into the app makes it more secure than an ordinary crypto wallet.

Transactions are signs using verifiable QR codes. This opens up multiple possibilities for interacting with other solutions and also wallets.

The AirGap Vault can be used alongside other companion apps like AirGap Wallet, MetaMask, Sparrow Wallet, BlueWallet, Specter, and other QR code-based wallets. These companion apps serve as watch-only wallets that allow users to view portfolios and initiate transactions while the Vault signs transactions and protect their private keys offline.
