AirGap is working on adding Optimism (OP)
AirGap is proud to announce that we have been awarded a grant by the Optimism Foundation to integrate the Optimism blockchain (OP), a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum. The Grants Council of Optimism has reviewed more than 150 proposals during Season 3, Cycle 11 and decided on the 9th of April of 2023 that AirGap is worth to be one of the 25 selected ones.
Our team will now be actively working on integrating OP into AirGap. Optimism is a game-changer in the Ethereum ecosystem, as it offers near-instant transaction confirmations at a fraction of the cost of the Ethereum mainnet. With this upcoming integration, AirGap users will enjoy faster and cheaper transactions while still enjoying the same level of security as on the Ethereum mainnet. We believe this integration will provide a better user experience and encourage more people to use AirGap for secure storage.
We want to thank the Optimism team for recognizing the potential of AirGap. We are excited to work with them to bring this new technology to our users.
What we have pledged to do:
1. Integrate native OP into AirGap Vault and Wallet
2. Include the Top-10 ERC-20 tokens (by market cap) on Optimism
3. Add a feature to import and use any ERC-20 token on Optimism
4. Integrate WalletConnect to be used to connect AirGap to Optimism dApps
5. Include Optimism in open-source developer tooling: airgap-coin-lib
6. Continuous maintenance, testing, and community support for years to come.
Our team is committed to providing the latest and most innovative features in the crypto space, and we are thrilled to be adding Optimism to our list of supported blockchains. We expect to complete the integration by the end of June 2023, and we will keep our community updated on our progress.
