AirGap Receives Interchain Foundation Grant
The Interchain Foundation with its current focus on the interoperable blockchain technology of the Cosmos Network issued a grant to develop the Cosmos integration for AirGap.
What is AirGap?
In a nutshell AirGap is a wallet where multiple crypto asset can be securely stored on an offline device. AirGap has a somewhat unique two device approach where one is kept completely offline and is responsible for secret generation, storage and transactions signing and the other one is the every-day phone thus online and takes over transaction creation and broadcasting.
Our focus at AirGap is on accessible security where we want to bring the best security without sacrificing usability. We also believe in open source and welcome any collaboration.

ATOM integration
The following components will be involved in the development of the ATOM integration for AirGap.
- airgap-coin-lib — A protocol-agnostic library that allows supports operations such as preparing, signing and broadcasting transactions and is written in Javascript (Typescript).
- AirGap Vault —Lives on an offline phone and is responsible for secret generation, storage and transaction signing.
- AirGap Wallet — Lives on an every-day phone and is responsible for transaction creation and broadcasting.
The following tasks will be completed:
- Add ATOM spend transaction support to airgap-coin-lib
- Add ATOM delegation support to airgap-coin-lib
- Add ATOM support to AirGap Vault and AirGap Wallet, allowing to create a transaction.
- Add ATOM support to AirGap Vault and AirGap Wallet, allowing to directly delegate to a validator.
- 3rd-party Security audit
We’re looking forward to contribute to the Cosmos ecosystem and bring with the airgap-coin-lib integration a tool for developers to interact with the Cosmos protocol. And with the AirGap Vault and AirGap Wallet integration a secure mobile wallet for all users.
