The Desktop Wallet That Is Not Aware Of Any Secrets

AirGap Wallet Desktop only has access to public available information. The secret (private key) lives on a mobile device inside the AirGap Vault application and is stored in the secure enclave.

Communication With QR Codes

When taking the most secure approach, the AirGap Vault application is installed on an offline device. The communication between AirGap Wallet and AirGap Vault work with QR codes.

Let’s break down a simple transaction:

  • In AirGap Wallet the receiving address is filled out, the amount as well as the fee → a QR code is generated with these details
  • AirGap Vault scans this QR code and signs the transaction with the secret stored in the secure enclave → a QR code with the signed transaction is displayed
  • AirGap Wallet scans back the QR and broadcasts it to the network

That’s it, a transaction from your cold storage wallet, a device that is completely offline.

More Signing Options — Ledger Support

We’re currently working on adding support for additional signers besides AirGap Vault making AirGap Wallet the one-stop application for multiple signing devices.

As soon as the Ledger Polkadot application is released, users will be able to connect their Ledger hardware wallets to AirGap Wallet Desktop to transfer and delegate their DOTs.

Ledger support for additional currencies will also be added gradually.
