How to pair your Beacon Extension with a mobile wallet
A short guide on how to pair a mobile wallet to the Beacon Extension and interact with decentralized applications on Tezos.
For this guide, you will need the following devices
- The client which you want your Beacon Extension installed on
- AirGap wallet which you will pair with your Beacon Extension

- Search for Beacon Extension or simply click here (Image 1)
- Now press the “ Add to Chrome” button (Image 2)
3. Now you will be prompted to add the Beacon Extension (Image 3)
4. Once the Extension has been added, head to the Extension. You will find the option to choose between pairing your Wallet, a Ledger or you can generate your mnemonic with the developer mode. For the sake of this guide, we will pair it with the AirGap Wallet. (Image 4)
5. Press on Pair Wallet, once done so you will be redirected to a QR page (Image 5)
6. Now head to your AirGap Wallet and open the QR scanner (Image 6 & Image 8)
7. Once scanned you will get a pop-up message saying ‘’ you successfully paired your wallet!”
8. Now you are all set up! All the requests you do on websites which support D’apps will be automatically redirected to your wallet. No lengthy procedures anymore, just 1. A click 2. Confirm Transaction 3. Sign your transaction and all done!
Beacon Extension use case
Perhaps it may be hard to visualize what the Beacon does exactly for you. Well, we have a perfect example for you guys. We recently developed TZbutton, which is a social experiment using a smart contract built on the Tezos blockchain. You may wonder how the Beacon extension interacts with the TZbutton. Once you have pressed the button the Beacon Extension will work the magic and you will only have to pick up your mobile device, open the wallet and grant the permission to do the transaction. No lengthy scanning or inserting codes. The extension has done all of this for you!
