How to participate in æternity Governance with AirGap
The æternity community will participate in the first on-chain governance vote and decide if the first proposal the Block Reward Initiative (BRI) will be accepted and in which capacity.
Block Reward Initiative (BRI)
To transform æternity into a self-sustaining platform, æternity proposes the Block Reward Initiative (BRI), through which ~0–20% of miner rewards will be allocated to development. The voting period will be from May 7-14 (CEST).
With the latest version 2.4.0 of AirGap Wallet the voting option has been added.
How to participate in Governance with AirGap
With this step by step guide we’ll walk you through a vote with AirGap.
1 ¬ Open AirGap Wallet & Select Your Account
Make sure you’ve AirGap Wallet version 2.4.0 installed.
Open the AirGap Wallet mobile App on your phone. You can see the “Accounts” overview, select your æternity account.
2 ¬ Open “Voting” & Select Your Vote
On the detail screen you can select the “Voting” button. Select your desired percentage where at 0% you do not support the BRI and up to 20% of the mining rewards go to the development fund. With “Vote” your voting transaction will be generated.
3 ¬ Vault Interaction
Select “offline device” if you’re using the offline approach or “same device” if you’ve installed AirGap Vault and AirGap Wallet on the same device.
4 ¬ Sign Transaction With AirGap Vault
The voting transaction is now ready to be signed in AirGap Vault. Access the secret in the secure enclave of the AirGap Vault app with your fingerprint, pattern or Face ID.
5 ¬ Confirm Transaction In AirGap Wallet To Broadcast.
After confirming the transaction in AirGap Wallet it will be broadcasted to the blockchain.
6 ¬ Verify Your Vote
On the “Voting” page of your æternity account you can now verify your vote and even change it before the voting period is over.
