tezblock — A Tezos Block Explorer Concept Part 2

Recently I started started thinking more about how the data of the Tezos protocol could be displayed to the users in a more accessible way.

This is a continuation of the first entry tezblock — A Tezos Block Explorer Concept where I explore the idea behind a new block explorer and outline them in a concept. If you haven’t seen it yet, take a look at it before you continue.

After receiving a great response the last time with a lot of valuable feedback and many people asking when it will be built, I’ve decided to continue documenting my thoughts.

A look at the account states

In the last post I touched on the idea that only meaningful data should be displayed, this means only relevant data for a specific account should be visible while hiding the rest. A tz account for that matter could have three different states: undelegated, delegated and baking. We’re going to take a closer look what this actually means.

undelegated account

The undelegated account

In the undelegated account state the delegation part is hidden instead the user is being informed that the account has not been delegated yet and provides a way to educate about the delegation process and how it can be done.

Furthermore the tabs relevant for delegations, endorsements or voting are greyed out and can not be selected.

delegated account

The delegated account

This was touched on in the last part already more in depth. If the account has delegated funds an overview is provided not only of the amount but also with more meaningful data like the next payout of the baker, the amount of the payout as well as the baker’s fee. This allows a better insight into delegation and baking activities.

Additionally the delegations, endorsements or voting tabs are still greyed out and inactive.

baking account

The baking account

The baking accounts related to the bakers that validate the network have much more information but only count as a small percentage of the overall Tezos accounts.

Instead of just having the identicon a logo and name identifying the baker is visible. Additional information is now visible, for example the staking bond and its correlating staking balance as well as the staking capacity.

With the baking efficiency rating of MyTezosBaker and the payout accuracy of Baking Bad meaningful data of great third party service can directly been shown in the explorer.

Now the delegations, endorsements or voting tabs are active and selectable as they provide now meaningful data. The user can explore the account that have delegated to this baker, see the relevant endorsements or votes.

Now it’s your turn, feedback is needed

What are your thoughts? Feedback is needed and greatly appreciated. If you think this goes totally in the wrong direction or if you would like to see this taken from concept to development.

Let me know in the comments here on Medium or on Twitter what you think.
