For many reasons, duplicating an Airkit app is a somewhat common experience. You might want a copy of an app if:

  • You want to make a newer version of the app but keep the old one around.
  • Someone else has created an app and you want to build something different off of it.
  • You might want to create a testing version of an app.

So lets learn how to duplicate an app. This is a relatively quick process.

First we need a copy of the existing app. The easiest way to do this is form Studio. Open the app you want to duplicate in studio. From the Hamburger menu at the top of stage select the “Export” item. This will download a the current savepoint of the app.

Return to Console or Apps by clicking on clicking on the Airkit logo at the top left of the screen. At the top right of the screen there are buttons for Import App and Create new. Select Import App. The following dialog will appear:

Drag your exported app to the square for choosing a file or click on the section to select the file on your computer. Once imported, the App name will automatically contain the name of the Zip file. Change it to something more readable.

You can now edit your app copy in studio.
