Open NanoCarbon

USA

An open science virtual think tank effort creating open negative emission technologies to solidify 660 Gt carbon in 25 yrs. The goal is to find the most efficient way to dissociate carbon from CO2 at extremely high volume and build open hardware devices or systems that will scale to solidify 660 gigatonnes of carbon in a couple of decades. By leveraging open science and source, scientists and engineers can incentivize others to build and extend the devices to further speed up the carbon solidification.

CleanO2

Canada

Now, 9 years later, we have deployed the worlds first residential carbon capture device in Alberta Canada and are looking to expand our technology on a global scale.

We are based in Calgary and have partnered with Excelair Mechanical Services to aid in our research and development of our technology.

Mango Materials

USA

To transform waste gas streams into affordable, biodegradable materials while creating a positive environmental impact.

Simris Alg

Sweden

Simris Alg is a pioneering agribusiness growing algae in Sweden. Our mission as algae farmers is to empower healthy and planet friendly lifestyles, by delivering superior products from algae. Our goal is to be a landmark business for the bio-based economy. We are based in Hammenhög, Österlen, close to the sun and the sea.

Soletair

Finland

All resources we need for the sustainable fuels and plastics are in the air, all around us. We only need two key components: carbon and hydrogen.Carbon we can capture directly from the air as CO2 and hydrogen we can produce by renewable electricity from the sun or wind. With the help of catalytic synthesis, we can combine them into hydrocarbons suitable for fuel and plastic production.

In the SOLETAIR project, we integrate these sustainable technologies to demonstrate that renewable products from the sun and air are available, already today.

Geoengineering Map

USA

This interactive geoengineering map, prepared by ETC Group and the Heinrich Boell Foundation, is an attempt to shed light on the worldwide state of geoengineering by showing the scope of research and experimentation. There is no complete record of weather and climate control projects so this map is necessarily partial. It builds on an earlier map of Earth Systems Experimentation published in 2012. That original map documented almost 300 projects and experiments related to the field of geoengineering. Five years later over 800 such projects can be identified. These include projects in Carbon Capture, Solar Radiation Management, Weather Modification and other approaches.
