Love is friendship set on fire they say. Some of the best love stories start with tight bonds of friendship. Jane and Abraham’s story is one of them. Both Jane and Abraham signed up on Aisle the same year but found each other on the app much later. Abraham recalls that he had liked Jane’s profile but she responded only one and a half years later. “She is very prompt,” he quips. “I wasn’t very active on the app but I sent a Hi first if that counts” Jane replies in her defence.

Jane’s first question to Abraham was “What brings you on Aisle?” and this straightforward attitude is what attracted him. “Jane was quite open about who she was. I liked that” says Abraham. Even after two weeks of texting, Jane wasn’t comfortable talking over the phone and hence did not answer his calls. “I understood that she was not comfortable but I really liked her so I decided to take baby steps ahead and suggested we start with voice notes”, Abraham adds. Jane agreed to the idea. “Voice notes for me are like a comfort zone so it worked,” she remarks.

Once the conversation became comfortable, the next hurdle was taking it offline. Jane lived in Calcutta and Abraham was in Cochin. They knew they wanted to meet but the distance was an unsaid barrier. Where there is love, nothing is too much trouble and rightly so in this case. Abraham was visiting Guwahati for work and decided to fly to Kolkata to meet Jane. “Even before asking her out on a date I booked my flight ticket. ”, chuckles Abraham.

Interestingly, the first time they spoke to each other over a call was just the day before they met in person for the first time. While recalling the memories of this phone call, Abraham narrates, “She ringed me up and asked me the most romantic question possible. She asked me about the information one needs to disclose while filing income tax returns. This was our first phone call ever and it lasted three minutes”.

The next day Jane went to pick Abraham from where he was put up in Calcutta. “He is a lawyer so he likes wearing formals. He showed up in a blazer and it was hot in Calcutta. I was a little surprised. We went out to get some drinks where he was all trim and proper. I am not a very formal person so it felt like a little bit of a show initially. But our conversation was great and I liked him” says Jane. Abraham was in Calcutta for three days and the comfort level got even better from the second day. “Our conversations were more about us and we spent the entire day together” adds Abraham. Jane says, “It was a long day together but it didn’t feel like time was passing by”. On his way back to Guwahati, Abraham knew he had found the one. “When I landed back the first text I got was from Jane saying she wanted this to work out somehow. I could not have received a better message that day” adds Abraham.

Eventually, both Jane and Abraham broke the news to their families. There were doubts, initially, about how things would work out professionally as they were in two different cities. But the universe conspires to make things happen if it is meant to be. In nine months, this much in love couple will be tying the knot.

“Abraham and I are very different people, but the emotional connection we struck from Day 1 was much more significant than any shared interest. His loving and caring ways have really deepened my understanding of love. When we decided to get married we just knew, no one proposed- we just belonged together” adds Jane.

Aisle wishes them a lifetime of love, friendship, and happiness!
