Recently my grandmother came to visit us with her friend. It was pretty fun as she was here for a couple days and we showed her around town, brought her to view the mountain, and shopped around the markets.

When she came the first day, I asked her to meet us near the gigantic Apple Store on the rotonde. You can’t miss it. That is, unless you’re Nana.

We waited by the Apple store for about 45 minutes before deciding they were lost and we set out to find them, as they couldn’t be that far. We went to their hotel, no luck, we traced the steps they would have taken to the Cours Mirabeau. Sure enough, she spotted us and called us over. They were sitting at a cafe at the edge of the Rotonde.

I went to where they were sitting and looked around — the Apple store loomed high over the fountain, clearly visible.

“Nana, that’s the Apple store right there, how long have you waited here?”

“Oh about 45 minutes, we thought that was an art gallery.”

Sigh.

I love my Nana.

The next couple days we proceeded to walk around town and got dinner at some of our favorite places. We had some espresso at some cafes, looked at the churches again, and went to Cezanne’s studio.

Here are some photos we took during the visit:

We had to say goodbye to her as she left Aix to go to Nice before finally ending in Paris.

When she was in Paris, she ran into a situation I’m sure has happened to tourists before. She had entered the station with her metro ticket and then tossed it, thinking she did not need it as she was already through the gates. When they got on the metro, she and her friend both got fined on the spot for not having their tickets!

Hold on to those metro tickets, friends! You’ll need them to enter and exit the station. Lesson learned, nana ☺
