Today we took a walk in the footsteps of painter Paul Cézanne, who is kind of a big deal here. There is a walk up to a hill (on Avenue Paul Cézanne) called Terrain des peintres where you can see the mountain, Sainte-Victoire, pictured above.

The walk wasn’t too bad and it was about a kilometer from our apartment. Paul’s residence was closed today but we wanted to walk to the hill anyway. The neighborhood up on the hill was swank with picturesque houses and rolling hills. I would definitely not mind living up there.

These hedges are really well trimmed
These houses have a pretty awesome view.

It was beautiful—a statement that pretty much describes Aix in general. The old town has a certain feel and vibe whereas the hilly neighborhoods of the wealthy also have a certain vibe. My camera doesn’t do it justice. I’m really hurting without my Nokia 1020 — I love the Moto G but its camera is pretty lackluster. Now that we’re here I may try to figure out how to send the Nokia in for repair.

Aix will be even more beautiful when it warms up, I’m actually surprised to see so much green with temperatures often in the 40s. I enjoy the outdoors so I’m looking forward to stepping foot on that mountain eventually.
