The boat that disappeared
Update Nov. 7:
Check out some of what has been uncovered so far in this crowdsource investigation:
We’ve all seen coverage of refugees — from places like Syria and Eritrea — struggling to cross the Mediterranean Sea in search of a better life. The crossing, often made on overcrowded boats, can be dangerous. And many have drowned trying.
In 2014, a boat carrying 243 Eritrean refugees from Libya to Italy disappeared in the Mediterranean. Medium and a group of journalists have launched an investigation into what happened that night.
AJ+ has teamed up with them to bring the investigation to life.
The Medium investigation is being led by a group of journalists, but it’s also being powered by crowdsourcing. Follow for updates on how the project is progressing, or see how you can help here.
