Adding questions often involve adding images. This is often done when question is linked to a visual element say a graph or an object. However at times it’s also convenient to create questions as screen shots especially when they have complex texts such as a math formula or any scientific equation. This article aims to capture different ways of adding images onto your questions.

Using the editor’s toolbar

Find the TV icon and click it.

Incase you are wondering why an icon of a ‘TV’ for adding image. This is because the tool-item is meant to do more than just image. As we speak it supports uploading image and audio(you can record from the browser). And very soon adding video should be there too. So in that sense the icon represents ‘multi-media’.

Well now that you have clicked it, you should see the following pop-up

And for images you are presented with the following two options

  1. Choose file : Use this to upload image files from your computer. This button can also be used to upload audio files. Note , this option might take a few seconds before the popup closes and you see the image on the editor. This is because the editor is uploading the image on our servers. Until it uploads you should see the message “Uploading …”
  2. Enter Link: This is to be used incase you have an image you have found on the internet. You can just paste the url of that image and its done . Note: Please ensure you aren’t using copyrighted image

Dragging images to the editor

Well as of now this isn’t known to be working on either Windows or Mac. We haven’t tested this on linux as yet.

Copy-paste images to the editor from the computer

Windows

doesnt work

Mac

works :)

Copy-paste images to the editor from the clipboard

In case you are using the default screenshot tools of either Mac or Windows, this feature works like a charm. Take a screen grab of the desktop or a region and choose the option to copy it to the clipboard instead of saving it as a file. Once done, just paste it onto the editor and you are done.
