Eric Clapton released a new album for 2018 entitled Happy Xmas.

This is my quick music review of this album. As I write this, I realize music reviews are almost entirely useless these days. You can get the entire album downloaded for “free” using your paid monthly subscription to a music service. No need to make an informed decision anymore, just try it out yourself. That means the following is purely for entertainment purposes. ;-)

Clapton is a guitar legend and if you’ve always wanted that specific legend to add a little Christmas to blues or add some blues to Christmas, now is finally your year.

First, Clapton has still got it. The riffs seem extremely familiar on these songs, but they still work well. How does the 73-year-old pull this off? It’s still about the music, man. We’re not expecting Celine Dion to amaze and impress with impossible vocal range. We just want to chill out to something other than Bing Crosby this Christmas. Overall, it’s a mellow album that can, for the most part, work well as a holiday backdrop to your eggnog and Santa-shaped cookies.
