In my side it was not easy since the Application phase,as an engineering student there are so many things to catch up in the university(a lot of assignments, class hours, workshops and practicals, projects, discussion with my fellows) and you know what it takes to do staffs at the quarter of semester “where things at university are starting to be hot” in general it was not easy, it was tough, but after get in; There was never come a day I regret for put my legs in this BOOTCAMP because of its value, from it modal of conductivity, meetings, training and assessment with a lot of tech tools in the process.

What did it take to be at the Bootcamp?

It true there is a lot of things at the process and there are not easy, even my self I have not covered a lot of things but what it takes? What it takes for you to apply? What does it take for you during the Bootcamp?, this is very important because, in the end, it must end with a value, it takes for you to manage your staffs (both software skills and other things eg studies as a student)

  1. Maximize Your Focus — This will help you to know exactly what are you doing for which reasons
  2. Management skills — To manage your things you need decisions(decision on what to do, when and for what reasons) and discipline,
  3. Be serious — Your discipline matters a lot in everything.
  4. Identify your self — By identifying yourself it will help you to know what you need not only in software development but in everything and it eventually gives you focus by meet with the right people.

What I Have learned at the Bootcamp?

Here are some of the things I thank #ALCwithForLoop Bootcamp, through there idea of having this program I am now one among many of there product in the following skills,

  1. PROJECT MANAGEMENT BY GITHUB

As a student and junior software developer, most of the time I most care about is the output(I think for almost every beginner in the software development field), but throughout the #ALCwithForLoop Bootcamp they taught and assist us how to manage software project from user stories up to release phase by using GitHub. They make sure you keep your hand dirty by doing everything they taught you, through this, I even record some quotes from our mentors.

“In Order to become professional software developer, you need to understand your Tools very well” by Benson Maruchu

2. THINKING IN REACTjs

This Bootcamp it was not only about codes, but consist of a lot of stuff here is just awesome of it, how do you write your react code, what mentality to have on write react code, understand what you write and why you need what you write, all those matters were resolved toughly by reacts, and I get deep understanding on, Stateful and Stateless Component, State, Props, changing of states, one funny tricks in reacts tough hands-on workshop assignments and keep hands dirty on the keyboard.

3. NodeJs(Expressjs), PostgreSQL and @ReactJs SKILLS

Throughout the BOOTCAMP we were learning by doing. Each and every serious person was at least able to build a website FrontEnd with reacts and Serverside with nodejs by using express and Database with PostgreSQL. It is true that, required time and effort to learn, asking, google a lot until you understand each technology this applies same to me, so no reason for you to not catch up in the Bootcamp all through time was the only limit.

“You Must Get Shirt Done”

4. Professional skills of Using Git And GitHub

Throughout the Bootcamp, almost everything was done and finished in Github including assistance, Announcements, issues, code reviews and commits. The hot thing of all that is, we even touch things I have never imagine, working on my GitHub account dashboard, all that makes me proud and pretty familiar with the tool.

5. DON’T QUIT

Bootcamp was tough? yes; So what keeps me push my self forward? It is simple, I asked myself, what is my focus and reasons made me apply for the Bootcamp? I guarantee it is going to be easy but I will put my efforts, curiosity to make things easy for you,

6. Thanks To Our Mentors

Here are the BIG peoples who make big things appear simple to us, Joshua Malina @BenMaruchu @lan_dre, SimonMawole @ayaZachariah, @seedspace, Andela_Kigali, @forLoopTanzania, @YesayaSoftware, @seedspace_co, @Andela Robert

7.Thanks To My Fellows Learners

It was such a good feeling to learn and connect, through this Bootcamp just to mention some few giant geeks,@harithminhajj, @rafyramy94 @LeticiaNkulu @BaharaJr, @MICHAELKISINGI

My Last Assessment

It is now my job to make sure what I have pursued through six-weeks was not just wastage of time.

  • Waste your productive time
  • Waste your mentors productive time

Although it was not easy, that was what it takes to advance my skills and change my ability
