You miss your pet when you’re away from home. Still, do you ever wonder what they do to pass the time while you’re gone? Your home security system can do more than just keep you safe — it can also provide you with some entertaining videos of your furry friend.

When you invest in cameras for your house, be warned — you might be surprised by what you see on the tapes. Sometimes, your pet’s idea of a good time is a little on the strange side. The possibilities of what they might be doing while you’re not around are truly endless, but we can help to prepare you for the footage you might find.

Here are six things your pet might be doing behind closed doors:

1) Doing Home Improvement Work

This pup takes it upon himself to construct a staircase out of a set of kitchen drawers. Dogs are generally not very good problem solvers, so if your cameras catch Fido doing this, you should be impressed. He earned that treat on the countertop — you almost can’t even be upset.

2) Borrowing From Your Closet

This kitty has taken a liking to human clothes, and she explores that interest while her owners are away. Fun fact — if you see your cat doing this, she may be pregnant. This is because animals have a tendency to go into “nesting mode” when they’re expecting, and use soft items to line their chosen space.

3) Getting a Little Bit Too Comfortable

This dog knows he’s not allowed on the couch when mom and dad are home, so he takes full advantage of their absence.

4) Staying Up Way Past Their Bedtime

These kitties know how to party. Cats are commonly nocturnal, so if you have a cat at home, you are likely to record some nighttime antics of your own.

5) Going Wild Over Their Favorite TV Show

It turns out dogs can get pretty into their favorite TV shows, too. And, just like with humans, how they react to what’s on the screen depends on their personality.

6) Waiting Patiently

Sometimes, your pets just wait patiently (or not so patiently, as the case may be) until you get home. Clearly, they miss your just as much as you miss them.

Bottom line — if you don’t invest in home security cameras for the sake of your safety, do it for the laughs you’re sure to have when you find out what your pet gets up to when they think no one’s watching.
