Which Apple Watch is Right for You?
Every year Apple updates its iPhone and Apple Watch. This year the Apple watch got its biggest update yet. It’s called the Apple Watch Series 3 and it starts at $329. If you look at the new Apple Watch from the outside it looks just like every other Apple Watch. What makes this one special is now it can connect to cell towers and get a data connection without your iPhone. So, which one is right for you?
Do you need all that data?
The first question to ask is do you care about the data connection? If you’re a runner, cyclist, or hiker it is probably worth it. You’ll be able to leave your phone at home and stream millions of songs from Apple Music. It hasn’t been determined yet if you’ll be able to stream from other services like Spotify or Pandora. You’ll also be able to get turn by turn directions, send and receive texts, and make phone calls without your phone.
Is that it?
If you’re thinking, “is that all” the Apple Watch Series 3 probably isn’t for you. It has several features outside of the data connection but they aren’t really that impressive. It has a GPS unit and altimeter so you’ll be able to better track your hikes and bike rides. It also has some enhancements to the fitness tracking hardware which make it better at tracking your movements. Other than that, it’s pretty much the same Watch that we had last year but it costs an additional $100.
The Verdict
If you were already planning on getting an Apple Watch get the Series 3. It’s the best Apple Watch out right now and the price difference is reasonable. If you currently own an Apple Watch and want to upgrade, you better be a fitness nut. The Series 3 is primarily usefully for people that don’t always have their phone nearby.
