Aleph.im Integrates Avalanche, Providing Decentralized Cloud To High Performance Crosschain Platform

Aleph.im is now integrated with Avalanche blockchain, bringing decentralized cloud services to all developers and teams building on this revolutionary platform. Allowing anyone building on Avalanche to fully decentralize their protocol and DApps — removing the centralized part of their stack — via our decentralized database, computing and decentralized identity (DID) framework.

For aleph.im it means adding support for a third highly regarded crosschain smart contract platform. We are very aligned as we share the vision of a future with a constellation of blockchains that interoperate with one another. We are also both very focused on supercharging DeFi.

About Aleph.im

Aleph.im’s core mission is to help decentralized apps and protocols strip off the centralized parts of their stack, achieving a fully decentralized architecture. Our open-source ecosystem achieves this by providing decentralized databases (including file storage), computation, and a decentralized identification (DID) framework. You can think of aleph.im as a decentralized AWS or Firebase.

What Is Avalanche?

Avalanche is an open-source platform for launching decentralized applications and enterprise blockchain deployments in one interoperable, highly scalable ecosystem. Avalanche is the first smart contracts platform that processes 4,500+ transactions/second and confirms transactions in under one second. Ethereum developers can quickly build on Avalanche as Solidity works out-of-the-box.

As outlined in this comparison article, Avalanche is very different from Cosmos and Polkadot as it has a very different topology and consensus.

Emin Gün Sirer presents Avalanche at Web3 Summit 2019

Avalanche features a revolutionary consensus with instant finality and 4,500+ transactions per second while reaching unprecedented levels of decentralization with a network consisting of tens of thousands of nodes allowing millions of block producers. Moreover, it features a unique topology where its subnets (networks it is made of) are incredibly secure and can be parametrized with a safety threshold of 80% compared to 33% with classical and 51% with Nakamoto.

The team behind Avalanche is led by Cornell Professor Emin Gün Sirer who has a known history in the early days of the blockchain space, Cornell PhD candidate Kevin Sekniqi, and Maofan “Ted” Yin first author of the HotStuff Protocol used in Facebook’s Libra.

What Can I Build With Aleph.im and Avalanche?

Anyone willing to build a DApp or protocol on top of Avalanche can easily integrate with aleph.im using our Python and Javascript Client Libraries. Essentially, any DApp or Protocol built on Avalanche can consider using Aleph.im instead of AWS or Google Cloud when it comes to its database, file storage, or computing needs.

Use cases are endless and range from DeFi products, fully decentralized NFTs, real-time DApps, unstoppable social networks, messaging DApps, censorship-resistant web apps, or even tamper-proof document certification systems.

It is worth noting that both Avalanche and aleph.im allow the creation of private networksprivate channels for aleph.im and private subnets for Avalanche — so one can also easily build an enterprise permissioned project with a consortium model.
