A Letter To Our Community: Our Thoughts During Trying Times

Dear All,

These are trying times. Our community has been through unparalleled horrors that will forever change us. It feels impossible to make sense of much of what happened on October 7th, and since then, around our region and around the world. We are grieving. People of conscience, and Jews in particular, are both horrified and frightened.

But trying times create resilience. Friction and pressure, when well-channeled, can fuel creativity and innovation. Determination and the will to live and prosper is foundational to entrepreneurship and the pioneering spirit that defines Israel and Aleph. The combination of creativity, determination, entrepreneurship and this energetic will to live will inspire and catapult our country, our economy and tech ecosystem over the coming years and decades.

There are not sufficient words to thank those who are standing with us Israelis and Jews the world over following the October 7th massacre and are steadfastly confronting the wicked anti-semitism that has since ensued. The “Chaotic 20s” have already featured a pandemic, an ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, tension between China and the US, the re-emergence of an evil axis, the bloodiest attack on Jews since the Holocaust and a significant rise in global anti-semitism.

We are still mourning the 1,400 Israelis and others killed, screaming for the release of the 240+ hostages held by Hamas and praying for our children, spouses, brothers and sisters who are serving in reserve duty. We also pray for the eradication of Hamas so that Gazans can live a better life.

From this chaos, the hearty and resilient emerge. The upholders of the values of Abraham, including freedom, safety, peace and life, creativity and prosperity will innovate their way to a better world. The bonding of the global community that this horrific massacre has engendered will serve us and our entrepreneurs well in the future, both in the battle against hate and destruction and in creating companies that do well and good. There is much hate still filling the streets of major cities around the world and we must all stand up to it.

We are holding our heads high, watching the resilience of our society, our entrepreneurs and technologists that have innovated solutions in real time, pushed the bleeding edge of technology past limits and risen to the occasion. This will be a chaotic decade, but the future is bright for Israel. The future is bright for those who embrace life. Our community of investors and entrepreneurs is more committed than ever to deliver for the world today and in the future. We will more than reciprocate your support and plan to build for the future, for your future. At Aleph, while keenly aware of the tragedy that has befallen some of our family members, people we know and love, we are in awe of our children, brothers, and sisters who have gone to battle to defend life, and we are inspired by the creators who will build the incredible technologies and companies of the future.

We are fully back at work, investing, partnering and building for a better future.

Thank you.
