Hi everyone — my name is Aaron Rosenson and I’m Aleph’s newest Partner.
I’ve spent the last 4 years with Insight Venture Partners, a venture capital/growth equity firm in New York City. They’ve backed Twitter, New Relic, and Shopify, as well as a number of impressive Israeli companies, such as Wix and Checkmarx.
Over the past few years, I was responsible for identifying some of Insight’s most exciting investments, such as Docker, HelloFresh, Moat, Gainsight, and Illuminate Education. I’ve led M&A strategy and business development efforts for Insight portfolio companies and have served as an adviser to a number of Insight’s CEOs.
I am interested in businesses and entrepreneurs across a broad range of categories (from enterprise software to infrastructure to consumer internet) and stages (pre-revenue to pre-IPO). But from my work at Insight, I discovered that I am most passionate about earlier stage companies. In particular, I want to support entrepreneurs in their dreams of building scalable companies out of Israel.
To that effect, I hope I can add some perspective about scaling a global business, drawn from the thousands of tech companies I have looked at over my years at Insight. For example — given the realities that would likely exist at the “growth stage” for a particular company — what strategies should that company employ at the seed- and Series A-stage, to optimize their chances for success? How can we think together about a recruiting strategy to build a strong management team for scaling your business? What are the dynamics and who are the best growth stage investors for this kind of a company?
On a more personal level — I grew up in Chicago, the oldest of three siblings. I am a committed Zionist and after finishing up my degree at Wharton, I spent 6 months living in Jerusalem. My wife Ilana and I have been married for three years and are the proud parents of a baby girl, Charlotte.
I just made Aliya and am thrilled to be living in Israel. For thousands of years, my ancestors have dreamed of settling their families in this country; I’m grateful beyond words to finally make that dream a reality.
When I look at the entrepreneurs of Israel, who create local jobs and build startups into Israeli institutions, I consider them to be heroes. It’s a perspective that I share with Michael, Eden, and the whole Aleph family and this attitude is one of the many reasons that I’m excited to join the partnership. Together, we all want to continue building a great country.
In the meantime, I look forward to getting better-acquainted with the local tech community. We’ll be hosting a number of events over the next few months.
